It’s true. I’ve never been a morning person. But, since I’ve had James, baby #3, I’ve been even less so. Lately, if we get two hours of sleep in a row, it calls for celebration. This has been going on since mid-August, so needless to say – my sleep-tank is running on E.
The only reason why I’m able to put one foot in front of the other each morning is coffee. I am the Coffee Monster. The motto I live by? “Coffee before Talkie.” Seriously. Don’t talk to me before 8am unless I’ve got a hot cup o’ coffee in my hands. I mean that in the nicest way possible.
My morning routine is such:
Step 1: Get the kids out of the house – wake up, clean up messes, feed kids, clothe kids, make beds, feed dogs, make lunches, get big kids to school bus and preschool.
Step 2: Time for work! Once the big kids are out, our beloved nanny arrives to take care of the baby. That’s when I head to work.
I work from home so my commute to the office runs through my kitchen. Instead of stoplights and other cars, my traffic involves my crying baby and pancake-syrup coated counters. My one-stop-shop for breakfast is the pantry and my coffee pot (for when my husband and I are both drinking coffee) and my Keurig (for solo cups of coffee).
I always order (a.k.a. make) my “usual.” A Greek yogurt parfait and coffee, then settle in to my office. I spend the first twenty minutes going through emails in peace and quiet – sipping my coffee and savoring my breakfast. Sure, it’s work, but it seems like vacation after the stress of getting the big kids off to school!
On my most recent trip to collect last minute stocking stuffers, I had the chance to sample the new McCafé coffee, now available in 8 flavors at Walmart. I enjoyed both the French Roast and Premium blends, and picked up some ground coffee and coffee pods. They’re a great value, and I love having options for my morning me-time coffee!
I’m actually writing this up with a steaming cup of the French Roast in front of me. There is nothing better than the smell of coffee! I’m almost awake now. Just need another cup of McCafé coffee or five and I should be good to go! 🙂

Mmm… McCafe and reading emails in peace and quiet sounds fantastic! Glad you are able to find, and enjoy, some ‘me time’ during the day! #client
