Growing up, my family went to the beach every winter for my mom’s birthday.  Sure, it was cold (it even snowed one year), but we spent the week doing family things and we always had a blast.  We shopped at the outlets, played putt-putt, swam in the hotel’s indoor pool, and on one very special night, we got to go to Dairy Queen for dinner.  This was before DQ actually serving food.  This night at the beach was special – ice cream for dinner!

I always ordered a blizzard.  And I always ordered it with Crunch Bars and M&M’s.  It was perfection.

Now that I’m a parent, I want to make those memories with my kids that my parents made with me.  When I saw that M&M’s Crispy have made a comeback (I grabbed mine at my local CVS), I had an ah-hah moment.  Delicious milk chocolate? Crisy rice center?  Sounds like a familiar combination of days past.   Time to make M&M’s Crispy Milkshakes blizzard-style for the kids.

It’s been a long winter, and they’ve been such awesome big brothers to our little-man-James.  They deserve a milkshake treat.  And, I may even let them have it for dinner.

To make this uh-mazing milkshake, add three-four scoops of vanilla ice cream to your blender, along with 1/2 cup of half and half (or milk if you’re being “good”), and toss in about a cup of M&M’s Crispy.

Whir it up (making sure to put a lid on top of the blender, a very important step I skipped my first go-round).

I guarantee your kids will come a-running when they here that blender.  I stirred in a few crushed M&M’s Crispy afterwards for extra texture.

Serve with a smile and be sure to snap a pic!  Tag #MomFavorites so we can see your happy family enjoying this delicious treat with an old-school favorite candy!
