Top 10 Family Activities in New Orleans

By Guest Blogger Erica Leggiero

Hey y’all! My name is Erica and I’m from eLeMeNO-P Kids, and I am just so super excited to be guest posting today about one of my favorite cities in the entire world! New Orleans, Louisiana! This is where I was born and raised, and where I left my heart when I moved to Austin, TX and then on to Cincinnati, OH. Thank goodness my family still lives there, so I have an excuse to visit at least once a year!

Without further ado, here is my list of the Top 10 Family Activities in New Orleans, Louisiana!

Top 10 Family Activities To Do In New Orleans, Louisiana

10. Visit the larger-than-life storybook sculptures in the beautiful Storyland in City Park!

9. Eat a Snoball! You have to! Especially if you visit New Orleans in the summertime. They are like slushies, only much better! There are MANY flavors to choose from and you won’t be disappointed! (If you got an Ice Cream flavored snoball drenched in condensed milk your tastebuds will thank you. Oh stop, I’m drooling!)

8. Take a streetcar ride through the streets of New Orleans, including the famous Garden District!

7. Eat a Beignet (yummy powdered donut) and drink a cafe au lait (coffee with milk) at the world famous Cafe du Monde! (Tip: Don’t inhale while taking a bite. You’ll choke on powdered sugar like you never thought possible)

6. Visit the fish, seahorses, parrots, penguins, and other sea life at the Aquarium of the Americas situated right on the banks of the mighty Mississippi River!

5. Visit the Audubon Zoo located in historic Uptown New Orleans where they offer an exotic mix of animals from around the globe, including leopards, orangutans, white tigers, whooping cranes, and the mysterious white alligators! Yes, I said white. It’s a must-see.

4. See hundreds of butterflies in flight or try a chocolate covered insect at the Audubon Butterfly Garden & Insectarium. Bug Appetit!

3. Drive a streetcar, shop for groceries at Winn Dixie, or serve up some seafood at the New Orleans Children’s Museum!

2. Take a ride across the Mississippi River and see the skyline of New Orleans from the beautiful Steamboat Natchez!

1. Take in all the sights, sounds, culture, and food that New Orleans has to offer by perusing through the world-famous French Market! Featuring 3 centuries of history and 6 blocks of shopping. Just don’t forget to buy and taste a creole tomato!

Need one more thing to do while you’re visiting New Orleans? Walk around the French Quarter, go to Jackson Square and take in the beauty and majesty of the St. Louis Cathedral. This beautiful church is one of the most notable pieces of New Orleans and truly is the heart of old New Orleans!
