In my line of work (media consultant, blogger and playgroup organizer), I get my share of requests to help promote and/or participate in various fundraisers.  Most of these causes move me, but at the end of the day, I’m limited by time and resources… aren’t we all?

I’ve had to whittle down my extra-curricular activities to focus on what really matters to me and my family.  And most every year, we’ve decided that walking in the March of Dimes matters.

Premature Baby

We’ve participated in the walk for several years now, raising funds to raise awareness for premature births and to walk as a family to support the cause.

This year marks Kmart’s 32nd consecutive year supporting March of Dimes and 23rd as national sponsor of the annual March for Babies® walks, which takes place this spring in 700 communities across the country.

And guess who’s joined up with Kmart and the March of Dimes to rally support for the fundraising efforts?  Mom and Kmart ambassador Jillian Michaels.

I don’t know about you, but all you gotta do is threaten me with the phrase “30 Day Shred” and I’ll do just about anything you want.  Walk to raise awareness?  Sure.  Blank check for the March of Dimes?  Here ya go.

Now through June 20, Shop Your Way members and Kmart customers can support the campaign by:  Contributing in-store at any Kmart and online via a link at kmart.com/marchofdimes, with 100 percent of funds raised benefitting the March of Dimes

-OR- By purchasing Kmart’s collectible puppy figurine, available in-store or online for $5, with $1 from each sale being donated to the March ofDimes.

Need an extra bonus (besides pleasing Jillian Michaels, which is a significant WIN in my book)? As a special thank you to Shop Your Way members, Kmart is rewarding members who give back – through June 20 –  with a coupon for five percent back in points on their next qualifying in-store or online merchandise purchase.

Donations to the March of Dimes  have helped moms and babies by:

–        Providing the best information on healthy pregnancy and delivery

–        Advocating for better healthcare coverage for the most vulnerable

–        Fighting for better newborn screening standards in every state

–        Increasing access to prenatal care with mobile clinics and transportation to doctors

–        Educating generations of parents on the value of vaccination

Please consider visiting: Kmart.com/MarchofDimes and contributing to the cause!

To sweeten the deal, you have the chance to enter to win one (1) of two (2) exclusively designed Jillian Michaels/ March of Dimes t-shirts!

Just leave a comment below and share how you connect with the cause of the March of Dimes.  If you have other charities you’re involved with, share that as well and it will count as an entry!

“Contest entrants are only eligible to win once per sweepstakes, per household as part of a campaign sponsored by Influence Central.”

I’ve participated in a few walks throughout the years for March of Dimes. One of my friends had a premature baby and was in the NICU for a few months. They were very appreciative of all the work several different charities have done to raise awareness. I’m a huge fan of charities for animals and for kids. My family does volunteer work with rescue dogs.
