May 5, 2015 Mom Time

The Best Day of My Life

I didn’t always know I wanted to be a mom.  In fact, I’m fairly certain that at some point during my college years I declared I was definitely NOT having kids.

I’m positive that I said if I was going to have boys, they would be left on the hillside.  I certainly wouldn’t know what to do with them.

Then this happened.

Then this.

Three children.  Three BOYS.

I was not prepared.  At all.  I had never held a baby.  Certainly had never changed a diaper, and had never been into Babies ‘R Us.  Needless to say, my learning curve was steep.

Three boys and seven years later what I have I learned?  Besides never to vow that you won’t have boy-children?

I’ve learned that being a mom is the best job in the world.  That as soon as you think you’ve got the whole parenting thing down, they change or you add another one to the mix.  That just when you think you can’t take one. more. minute. of the insanity of the day, something awesome happens that makes you so darn grateful to be a mom with the most amazing boys in the world.

Sure, I find myself day-dreaming of my life pre-kids, but what would my life be now without them?  Life-less.

So when you ask me, what was the best day of my life?  It was this day.

I had to take two of the Clearblue Easy pregnancy tests, and it had to be the digital one that actually says “Pregnant.” I didn’t trust myself to be able to tell one line from two!  (picture from 2007)

The day I found out I was going to be a mom.  Sure, on that day I didn’t know it was the best day.  In fact, I was feeling really overwhelmed and nauseous.  But, now I know.  That was the day my life changed for the better forever!

Happy Mother’s Day Mommas!

Now, let’s have some fun!  How did you tell your family you were pregnant?
