5 Chemical Free Products and DIY Recipes for New Babies

I participated in an Ambassador Activation on behalf of Influence Central for WaterWipes. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

Attn: New Parents! 5 Chemical Free Products and DIY Recipes to Use When Bringing Home Baby!

Bringing home a new baby is terrifying.  Ok, in all honesty, everything is terrifying from the moment you find out you’re pregnant until… well, forever, I suppose.

When you find out you’re pregnant, you start to question everything.  Is it okay to highlight my hair?  Eat shrimp?  What about a pedicure?  Nothing seems safe.  You question everything.  And you think you’re crazy.  But you don’t know anything about crazy.  Real crazy comes when you’re a new mom.  Anything and everything is out to kill your baby.  From friendly visitors to his crib.  You require that everyone sanitize themselves from head to toe before entering your house.  And you read the labels on everything from food to cleaning products before you use them anywhere near your new bundle of joy.

Between your hormones, your sense of protection, and your lack of sleep, it can all get a bit stressful.  To help, I’ve put together my top five list of things that I felt safe using with my brand-new babies.

1) Chemical-Free Wipes: from first diaper changes, spits ups and runny noses, WaterWipes are the perfect baby wipe for your new addition.  WaterWipes, a premium European brand, is a chemical free baby wipe that contains only two ingredients, 99.9% purified Irish water and 0.1% grapefruit seed extract, a natural antimicrobial agent.

WaterWipes is recognized by the National Eczema Association as being the only baby wipe with absolutely no chemicals, receiving a 4 out of 5 Seal of Acceptance Rating.  So, you can rest assured that even the most sensitive of skin-types are safe with WaterWipes.

2) Cradle Cap Home Remedy: Oh, each of my kids had cradle cap, bad.  And, if you don’t manage it early on, it can cause your toddler to lose hair, because it can get so thick the hair can’t push through.  Good news:  you can rid your baby’s head of cradle cap naturally by rubbing it with olive, or coconut oil and leaving it on for a few hours. After shampooing it with baby shampoo, the softened cradle cap will flake off easily.

3) DIY Soothing Night Time Oil:  Break open 3 capsules of vitamin E and add to 6 ounces of almond oil, along with a few drops of lavender essential oil.  This creates an oil that is both antimicrobial and antibacterial.  Plus, the scent of lavender should help calm both you and baby!

4) Natural Hand Sanitizer: Go chemical-free with your hand sanitizer!  DIYnatural.com has a step-by-step tutorial on how to make a natural version of hand sanitizer that you’ll feel comfortable using around baby!

5) Microwavable Sterilizer Bags: Need to clean pacifiers, pump accessories or bottles?  Use the power of hot water and your microwave to easily sterilize all of these things without any additional chemicals!  I’ve used both the Munchkin and Medela brands and like them equally.

Do you have any other chemical free tips to share with new moms?  Leave a comment below!  Also, I wanted to share with y’all how excited I am to be a WaterWipes Ambassador.  I’ll be featuring WaterWipes on the blog over the next few months, so stay-tuned for more great tips on how to use WaterWipes in your home!  And until them, visit the WaterWipes home page for more chemical free tips for you and baby!

I’ve heard great things about water wipes and dry wipes that they sell in Europe. You’ve only got to wet them with water and voila! They probably store really well too since they’re not going to dry out 🙂
