Movie Night Fun with the Minions and this easy Banana Pudding Parfait treat in Minions Mason Jars! The perfect DIY family movie night treat!
Remember the days when Friday nights meant dressing up, fighting for reservations at the hot spot and waking up the next day with a headache? Sure, I get nostalgic and miss those moments every once in a while, but I’m in LOVE with my current Friday night routine: pajamas, pizza, family movie, treats, and cuddles with all of my boys. It’s perfection. Plus, it very rarely results in a headache. 🙂
I’m not a super-crafty person, and I’m not a master of sweet-treats like many of you, but when it comes to movie night, I put in effort. Friday Movie Night is my family tradition and I want my boys to look back on these evenings and remember how excited they were to spend time with their parents. I want them to cherish the little moments.
We’re all excited about the DVD release of the Minions at Target on December 8th. We didn’t get to see it in the theaters, and we’ve exhausted our current library of family flicks. In anticipation, we decided to revisit the Despicable Me movies, produced by the animation film company Illumination Entertainment.
I got all of my supplies at Target, the perfect one-stop shop for movie night supplies (and everything else!), then got busy.
First up: Minions Banana Pudding Parfait.
This was a simple concoction of my boy’s favorite sweet treats: Cake, Cookies and Pudding. What’s not to love?
First up, you’ll bake a cake. I used a regular ol’ cake box mix and prepared it according to package directions. Allow it to cool completely, then crumble.
I got Market Pantry Vanilla Wafers and crumbled these up as well. I like large chunks, but do your own thang.
Finally, I prepared one package of instant Banana Cream Pudding.
In mason jars, alternate layers of cake, pudding, cookies, pudding, until filled to the top. With one pudding package I was able to make 3 good-sized mason jar pudding treats, up it to two packages of pudding if you need more! I made sure to add the pudding via a measuring cup that fits inside the mason jar. Makes it much easier to clean up, and it will make the layers prettier in the jars. 🙂
Now, to bring it home with the Minions theme, I gave our mason jars goggles. Made out of construction paper, I think they came out super-cute and the kids LOVED them! Which, at the end of the day, is what matters, right?
