Finding Joy in 2016

This post was sponsored by Nature Made® as a part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central.

New Year's Resolutions. Remember those? We're six weeks into 2016. My goals at the beginning of the year? They included running 1000 miles, dropping the last ten pounds of baby weight, cleaning up the house, and finding joy in 2016. How am I doing?

So far, so good.  I’ve got 169.25 miles under my belt, I’m down 6 pounds (that running probably has something to do with it), and I’ve tossed/consigned/donated over 120 trash bags full of stuff!

I’ve always been afraid to make resolutions.  In fact, I resolved to lose my baby weight in 2015 too.  It didn’t happen.  But I’ve made a few key changes in the last several weeks that have helped me stay on track, and I’d like to share them.

First up: KonMari.  Have you heard of “The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up“?  It’s a NYT Bestseller, which is how I discovered it, but the premise is this:  Only surround yourself with things that spark joy.  And with that as my ruler, I’m going through every item in my home by category and keeping or tossing it based on how whether it brings me joy.  Apparently, my home was filled with things that didn’t spark joy.  I’m still Kon-Mari’ing away… every day another category of items.  The pile of trash growing at the curb and the pals I’m making at Goodwill are a testament to that.

After I “KonMari’ed”

Getting out from under the burden of stuff in my house is making it easier to prioritize my day – to get my workouts done, to make dinner for my family, to get work tasks done on schedule.  All of which are helping me stay on track for my resolutions.  That and the numerous calories I’m sure I’ve burned lugging trash out to the curb.

The second thing that I’ve done this year is started a vitamin regiment.  Although I consider myself to be a well-rounded eater, I’m sure there are many nutrition gaps in my diet.  Even more, I’m a big believer in Vitamin C in the winter to help maintain my immune system* (hey, anything to help when you live with three little kids) and Vitamin B12 which supports cellular energy levels*.

Ain’t nothin’ getting done if I’m sick or drained, and I’m relying heavily on Nature Made vitamins to help get me through this year!

Not only is Nature Made the #1 Pharmacist recommended supplement brand in 9 categories**, but I love all of the different varieties available at Walmart.  I’m not a big fan of huge pills (hence my resistance to vitamins in the past), but Nature Made makes many vitamins in chewable and dissolving tablets.  They taste just fine, plus it’s a mental transition to the end of the day for me.  When I want to make sure I stop eating or snacking for the evening, I take my vitamins.  It’s my palate cleanser for the day. 😉

How have you been doing on your 2016 Resolutions?  There is still plenty of time to start (if you haven’t already)!
