Artfully Modern DIY Accent Wall

This is a sponsored post on behalf of The Motherhood and Olympic Paints. All opinions are my own. #BringOnTheColor

Creating an artfully modern DIY accent wall is a breeze with the right tools, some fabulous colors and a little whimsy.

I love when I learn something new about myself.  When you do something you never thought possible.  Well, I’ve done did it.  I was crafty.  CRAFTY!

I know.  Jaws are dropping to the floor.  I’ve got the proof, not only in pictures of my completed work, but my back may also be a little raw from all of the patting I’ve been doing.

Ya know how I wrote a month or so ago about embarking on an office makeover?  I had lofty goals, and truth-be-told I considered hiring a contractor for it.  The goal – turn the main wall of my office into a artfully designed modern wall mural with Olympic Paints, and of course adding  a few finishing touches to bring the look together.

I scoured Pinterest for ideas then set off to Lowe’s to gather my supplies.  I was really inspired by the color selections of Olympic Paints and new that not only are they engineered to endure, but the ability to compare paint options and gather samples was a breeze.

Not only did I complete the project… it only took a few hours!  That, and I LOVE IT!!!!!

From start to finish, here’s how I went about creating my accent wall mural:

When I started I wasn’t quite sure what colors I’d end up using, but I knew I was going to have a splash of white.  So I started there.  I liked the idea of wrapping the mural onto a secondary wall to give it depth.  I marked out my painting area with painting tape (be sure to get a premium product here so you get clean lines), then set to it.  One coat of Olympic Paint was all I needed.

Next up, I marked out a few more lines and tried some of my paint samples so I could get a feel for how the colors would look together and with the color that the rest of the room was painted.

From there, it was pretty easy!  Tape, paint, allow the new color to dry, then re-tape for the next color block.

Stupid simple.  Even I can do it!

I’m in LOVE with the results.  The room truly pops and is so much fun to be in.  Never hurts to want to go to your office in the morning!

I got lucky and ended up liking the colors that I found on my first trip to Lowe’s, but if you want to see how a paint color would look before you head to the store, you can upload a photo of your room to the Olympic® Paint Visualizer After a few clicks you can give your room a digital makeover with any Olympic Paint color!

Even better, you can rest assured you will love your Olympic paints, or your money back!  With Lowe’s Paint Pledge Program, Lowe’s will refund customers who are dissatisfied with their paint for any reason, as long as the customer returns the paint in its original container within 30 days. Reason for return may include being unhappy with the quality or color, among others. Valid on interior and exterior liquid paint purchases 4/3/16-8/9/16 Disclaimer: http://www.lowes.com/en_us/l/paint-disclaimer.html

Now that you know it’s so easy even I can do it, have you been inspired to do a room makeover of your own?  What’s your next decor project?

I love that! That will be great for a creative work area. Impressive on the paint job, too.
