Why is it always the case that the tastiest things are the messiest? Ice cream sundaes, burritos, spaghetti, casserole anything… Such is the case with my Homemade Baked Beans – the perfect combo of sweet and spicy but man, oh, man. It can put a hurtin’ on a casserole dish.
Before I get to sharing with you this amazing recipe (with the pics to make any savvy cook wary of the mess), allow me to introduce you to the clean-up tools to use to assuage your concerns.
First – up allow me to introduce you to my new buddies, the Scotch-Brite® Scrubbing Dish Cloths available at Target. Fully washable, reusable and sturdy without the worry of scratching your nice dishes! Plus, it’s so versatile!
It’s the perfect kitchen towel-scrubbing sponge combo, and combined with my DIY Dish Soap, you’re armed to tackle any kitchen mess.
The dish soap is really easy to make, but when used with the Scotch-Brite Scrubbing Dish Cloths, is a winning combo.
First up you’ll wanna zest and juice a grapefruit (removing any seeds).
In a medium bowl, stir together the zest and grapefruit juice, 1/2 cup of pure castille soap, with two tablespoons of white vinegar, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and two cups of water.
Give it a good stir.
Find a pretty soap dispenser and fill ‘er up. If you have them, feel free to slide in a few sprigs of rosemary!

I love that DIY soap. It sounds perfect. I’ve never made my own baked beans (why? No idea), but yum! #client
I need a new baked bean recipe and this is the first (sweet!!) one I’ve seen in a long time that I want to try. As far as cleaning up, love a good product, and Target is my home away from home, so will definitely try! thanks ☀️
