Looking for a new cocktail to mix up during the winter and spring season? Make use of in-season blood oranges and whip up this Blood Orange Campari Cocktail. Happy hour playdate anyone?
Have you seen blood oranges in the stores yet? These beauties are in season… for a limited time only! What in life is really for a limited time only these days? Apparently, blood oranges, which are perfect in this Blood Orange Campari Cocktail! Only available in the late winter/early spring, these guys are deceptively uh-mazing.
Sure, they look like regular ol’ oranges from the outside. But once cut open, this jewel-toned fruit is more aromatic and fruitier than your typical orange. Although my boys like to eat them, I tend to refrain from sharing. Not only are they too good for kids that eat crumbs from their car seats, but as the name implies the blood-orange color has powerful staining power.
So, instead I put them into cocktails. I mean, what better use is there for an exotic fruit than to add it to booze?
Those that know me know… I adore Campari. I’ve always enjoyed it, but it became my go-to booze of choice after our recent trip to Italy. This Italian, bitter-sweet alcohol is the perfect flavor and color to blend with fresh juice from the blood orange. Add in a little vodka and seltzer and you’ve got a winner-winner cocktail hour.
