The only way to get through a slow start to the week?  Start planning the fun you’ll have this weekend!  That’s exactly what I’m doing this morning.

Yesterday, my box of produce from my local co-op was dropped off.  And in it?  Starfruit.  Bunches of them.  Starfruit, if you’ve never given them a try, are delicious.  In the US, they’re grown in Florida, primarily in the early spring and late fall season.  (Due to the lack of variety this time of year, my co-op secures fruit from small farms outside of our state.)

I can eat a Starfruit, straight up…. simply slice it width-wise into star-shaped pieces and pick out the seeds.  It has a really nice flavor profile – kind of a cross between an apple and a grape.  Floral and sweet, with just a touch of citrus.  I saved a few to savor over the next few days…. but the rest?  Starfruit Palomas, it is!

A typical Paloma is made with grapefruit juice, tequila, and soda.  My version swaps the grapefruit juice for a blend of starfruit and lime.  It’s less bitter than a typical Paloma, but still has the tartness that I love.

I’m gonna take one for the team here, and show you how this bad guy is made.  Whether or not my starfruit paloma recipe was consumed on a Monday morning or not…. I’ll just leave that up to your imagination. 😉
