I was on the phone the other day, chatting with my mom while I was frantically looking for…. my phone. Have you ever done that? Definitely a #facepalm moment. I think it’s because I don’t really ever think of my phone as an actual phone. Instead, it’s my calendar, to-do list, life planner and social activity manager.
Without my phone, I’m lost, and I’m super excited to give the Samsung Galaxy On5, available at Walmart for $119, a go. Coupled with the Walmart Family Mobile Plus Plan (Unlimited Talk, Text, & Data which includes up to 10GB of 4G LTE then 2G plus a free VUDU movie credit every month ($7 value) per line for $49.88), it’s a great way for this family of five to stretch our budget for phone and data usage!
Since Walmart Family Mobile bills you later, you only have to pay $19.88 when you sign up. Phew – no crazy contracts. Who wants to spend their tax refund on that?!?! So what am I doing with all of the 10GB of 4G LTE data? Glad you asked! I save time and money in the kitchen!
As a food blogger, die-hard foodie, and mom, I lean on a few great apps to keep my life streamlined, and these are some of the best:
6 Time & Money Saving Apps for Foodies
1) Ibotta – Cash Back for Everyday Purchases
Download the app, sign in, then discover participating stores near you. Walmart, Target and Harris Teeter are all retailers near me that participate. Click on a store to see the items available for cash back and the amount. After purchasing the items from the retailer, you’ll upload your itemized receipt; Ibotta then gives you cash back! Woohoo!
2) Walmart Online Grocery – Order groceries and pick them up without leaving your car
The Walmart Online Grocery service is really user-friendy. Search by category or item search to complete your order. Choose a timeslot, and your order will be loaded directly into your car at your local Walmart. There aren’t any annual or monthly charges and pick up is free, plus you can use the check-in app when you arrive. Easy-peasy.
3) All Recipes Dinner Spinner – Recipe Suggestions
Discover new recipes with this fun app. Simply add a few main ingredients that you want to use and get to browsing. Or, perform your own “Chopped” style challenge. Similar to a slot-machine, you’ll get random combinations to use in a recipe. You can access recipes with the combo as selected or create your own! Sounds like a fun cook-off opp if you ask me!
4) Out of Milk – Easy-Access Grocery List
Toss the post-its! Enter needed items into this free app, and you’ll always have your grocery list on hand. You can even share the list between family members so everything is in one place. Phew!
5) Foodie – Food Photo Filter
I don’t care if you are a foodie, a food blogger, or simply someone who likes to eat. We all take photos of our food. But man, a lot of those photos are B.A.D. Download this free app and all of your food photos will get a little boost without any additional editing time. Perfect for those #instafood shots and Yelp reviews!
6) OpenTable – One-Stop Reservations
Heading out on the town? Use this app to discover restaurants near you available for reservations at a given time. We use this when we travel all the time, but also for date nights. Another bonus (besides avoiding awkward calls with the hostess)? Each completed reservation earns you bonus points that when accumulated transfer to restaurant gift cards. Yes please!
Stay tuned!
Soon, I’ll be sharing what I’ll be doing with the free monthly VUDU movie credit that I get with my Walmart Family Mobile Plan! (It’s a $7 value, same as a new release rental.) Can’t wait for family movie night! #caseofthemondays

There are so many apps here that I can’t wait to try, especially that food list and the Foodie app. Thanks for the ideas! #client
Sure thing Stephanie 🙂
