We may be one week behind, with 52 Weeks of Sweets, but we’re upping our game! This installation… homemade ice cream! Homemade ice cream is a new one for me, y’all, and can I just say – I coming up with fun combos by the dozen. It might be time to change this series from 52 Weeks of Sweets to 52 Flavors of Homemade Ice Cream.
Not only am I expanding my dessert repertoire by adding homemade ice cream to the list of can-do sweets, but I’m also letting my hair down a bit for summer. Yep, that’s right folks. Ice cream cones. I think my kids have finally graduated to the cone.
For years, I feared ice cream cones – the source of tears at ice cream shops and sticky splotches on floors. But, my kids have me convinced: not only can they handle them… and what’s ice cream without a classic Keebler Waffle Cone or Ice Cream Cup ?
I hear yah. And plus, when you’re at home, there’s no need to cry over spilled ice cream. Armed with an awesome new ice cream maker, there’s more where that came from, folks!
This first ice cream recipe I’m sharing with you was an instant classic with my family. Inspired by my favorite cookie treat as a child, Keebler Fudge Stripes, I decided to make Fudge Stripes Cookie Ice Cream. I haven’t had a Keebler Fudge Stripes in ages, and just opening the box of cookies sent me back (decades!?!) to summer days picnicking with my mom and sister.
Before we get started making ice cream, be sure to grab these Cartwheel offers when shopping for Keebler products at Target.

Fudge Stripes Cookie Homemade Ice Cream
If using a standard freezer bowl ice cream mixer, freeze the bowl in advance, according to machine instructions. About an hour before you’re ready to get started, beat the milk along with the sugar and salt until the sugar is dissolved.
Stir in the heavy cream and vanilla extract and refrigerate for an hour or up to overnight.
Place your freezer bowl on the ice cream maker and pour in the milk mixture.
Turn the machine on and about 5 minutes prior to being finished (it needs to be pretty thick) pour in the crumbled cookies, reserving a handful for topping with later.
Once the machine has run for several more minutes, scrape out the ice cream into freezable takeaway containers. Freeze for several hours or up to overnight.
Enjoy with your favorite Keebler Cones and top with additional crumbled Fudge Stripes Cookies.
