Chocolate Peanut Butter Muddy Buddies™: #52WeeksofSweets, Week 32

Peanut Butter Cheerios™ Chex™ Muddy Buddies™ is our go to snack for the holiday season!  Deck the halls and reward your family afterwards with this perfect combination of chocolate, peanut butter and all things delicious!

I’m not sure how it happened, but I managed to escape childhood without EVER having tried Muddy Buddies.  I agree, it’s a crime.  It wasn’t until I was in college and a sorority sister’s mother sent some that I was enlightened.

It was the best thing I’d ever put in my mouth.  The powdered sugar dusted chocolate globs of Chex cereal makes all of the stressors around the holidays totally worth it.

As with most recipes in this house, our family Muddy Buddies recipe has been reinvented over the years.  But, I gotta admit, this year’s is a winner.  With the new Chocolate and Peanut Butter Cheerios™ and the addition of peanut butter cups, there’s nothing not to love about this recipe.

We like to whip up a big batch of this to kick off the holiday season.  It’s our favorite tree-decorating snack.  (Translation: serving Chocolate and Peanut Butter Chex Muddy Buddies is the only way to ensure I have little – and big – elves to assist me with the work!)

Combine peanut butter, butter, and chocolate chips in microwaveable bowl. I usually just eyeball the peanut butter.  I’ve always found it too much of a sticky-mess to actually try and put in a measuring cup.  (I’m sure that statement can lead us to all understand why baking has never been my strong suit!)

Anyhow….cook on high for 1 minute and 30 seconds, stirring him every 30 seconds.  Whisk until smooth.

Add Chex to a large bowl and pour the chocolate mixture over top, gently stirring to coat.  (Just go ahead and dump the whole 12 oz. box in; it’s just barely a little over 9 cups!) Carefully pour the cereal mixture into a large 2-gallon resealable bag.

Add in the powdered sugar, Chocolate and Peanut Butter Cheerios, peanut butter cups and peanuts.  Seal the bag and shake to coat.

It would be nice if you listed ingredients along with their proportions for the peanut butter and chocolate muddy buddies. All you show is a picture.

Am I missing something? I’ve read through your post several times, but you failed to actually give the recipe! There are no ingredients listed along with quantities. Hmmm..weird.
