I Resolve

Last year, being pregnant and all, I didn’t make any resolutions, except to give birth to a baby. Mission Accomplished. This year, however, I view the dawning of 2012 as an opportunity to make some positive changes. It’ll be a benchmark for my fitness. A test of my organization and time management skills, and, an opportunity to start planning for our financial future. Exciting stuff, right?

Well, I’m super-thrilled about it. Quite neurotically so. First off, I resolve to RUN 1,200 KILOMETERS IN 2012. Yep. For those that don’t think metrically (count me as one of those), that would be 745.65 miles. Which is just over 60 miles a month, every month, for the whole year. Am I up for it? I hope so! Want to join me? Sign up on dailymile.com. We can encourage each other throughout the year. I have a feeling I might even need a push come August.

Next on the list… I resolve to TACKLE THE CLOSETS. I no longer want to have Pinterest-envy. I want the perfect closet(s). That is, the perfect hall, laundry and linen closets. For free or super cheap. Anyone know one of those crazy-organized/designer types that would like to help me out? I’m willing to promote them on the blog!!! Yeah, I’m shamelessly trying to trade advertising to get my way out of the resolution already, and it’s not even January 1st. This may be a bad sign.

Finally, and probably most importantly, I resolve to KEEP AND UPDATE THE BUDGETS. Yep, this is my least favorite of them all. I’ve turned the checkbook reigns over to Jonnie for several years, and, he’s done a mighty fine job. But, I’d like to get more involved, keep track of my own spending (which is a big proportion of the total family budget, sadly), and start engaging in our family financial decisions on a more active level.

Whew. So, now you know where the time-management is going to come into play. I’m gonna be busy. But, I can tell already…. 2012 is going to be a FABULOUS year!

We made financial resolutions last year and are soooo proud of ourselves as the year comes to a close. Althuogh my husband has an MBA in finance, we could not have done it without Dave Ramsey’s Total Money Makeover. SUPER HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS!!! I tell EVERYONE about it.
From one pinterest addict to another – good luck with those closets! 😉
