Momma Loves to Shop – Consignment Sales

Who doesn’t love to shop, especially when a good deal is involved? Most moms I know hit up sales racks and clip coupons. They go to discount stores like Marshall’s, and often buy their kids’ clothes at consignment stores. But I don’t know a lot of moms that buy their own clothes at consignment shops. Sure, hand-me downs are good enough for the kids, but we are less sure when it comes to ourselves.

Is it because we wear them longer? Are more conscience of trends? Are afraid used clothes will smell like moth balls? All of these things are concerns I had regarding consignment shopping for myself. Until I actually visited a few consignment stores and my world turned upside down. Designer duds for a fraction of the cost? Often with tags still on???? I’m IN!!!

Now, a good portion of my clothes come from local consignment boutiques. However, up until yesterday, I was a consignment sale virgin. I had never shopped a full-fledged women’s consignment sale. Enter – Green Jeans Consignment. For three days, several times a year, local ladies can shop their little hearts out and get amazing clothes at a discount.

I had the opportunity to visit yesterday with a friend (pictured in the photo above, thanks Eugenia!). These are the clothes I found, fell in love with, and are now hanging in my closet:

Loving these patterns!
(The Laundry by Shelli Segal dress retails for nearly $200.
The halter top is a brand from Anthropologie and the shorts are from American Eagle)

Needed a new work outfit!
(Notice the Trina Turk label and original tags?
These cost $246 in the store and I got them for $35! The top is Liz Claiborne)

Bright colors are SOOO Spring 2012!
(That Boden jacket retails for $228, and the capris and shorts are from Gap)

All in all, I purchased 8 items and spent $130. That comes down to $16.25 a piece. I don’t think I could’ve gotten that deal at Target! If I paid retail for these clothes, I would have spent around $900! I’d say that’s a deal! What about you?

Wanna get in on the fun? Be sure to stop by today or tomorrow! Here’s the link for the hours and address: http://www.greenjeanssale.com/home/. Let us know what you find!

Have any other fave consignment sales we should check out? Let us know!
