Date Night in the QC

Heading out for a rare Date Night in Charlotte? No room for error when you only get to go out on the town sans children once in a blue moon.  If you wanna do it right, check out some of my favorite local spots where the hubs and I go to hang when I don’t care if they have a changing table in the bathroom.

Barrington’s – Romance Award – If you are in need of fine dining and romance, go to Barrington’s located in South Park.  This teeny restaurant books reservations far in advance, so don’t wait until 5pm on Friday to make your plans.  Share multiple courses to save a few bucks if you want, but take your time and savor the food and being taken care of.  They know how to do it right here.

Soul Gastrolounge – I Feel Automatically Cooler Award – When I feel like I’ve been rockin’ the mom jeans and sneeks too many days in a row, I grab my hubby and we head to Soul Gastrolounge in Plaza Midwood.  Your coolness factor may have to take a little dip by showing up early if you don’t wanna wait a long time for a table (they don’t take reservations), but order a cocktail at the bar and jam to the hipster tunes.  After a drink or two, you won’t care what about the wait!

Good Food on Montford – Foodie Award – Steamed Buns with Pork Belly. ‘Nuff said.  Ok, I can say more, but really, the food is the-AMAZE!  I recommend ordering tapas style, but the entrees are great too.  Once again, they don’t take reservations here, but if you end up having to wait, just bar hop along Montford until it’s time to eat!
***If you find yourself with extra time, I highly recommend checking out Ten Park Lanes, across the street from Good Food.  The old bowling dive has been replaced with a mighty-fine restaurant, bar (with specialty moonshines) and yes, a re-vamped bowling alley.

Vivace Dining Room

Vivace – Ambiance Award – Ahhhhh.  That’s what I think every time I walk in Vivace.  Let my mom-ness dissolve, and may I please have a Campari cocktail?  This Modern Italian restaurant, located in Midtown at the Metropolitan has fantastic food and if you are mindful of what you order, can be fairly inexpensive too.  The bonus?  They take reservations!  Plan on lingering after dinner on the patio overlooking the Sugar Creek Greenway and the uptown skyline, or check out the bar scenes at the other restaurants in the Metropolitan.

So, this is my list! What’s on yours? Any favorite spots I missed?

We love Lulu’s on Central and of course I am with you on Soul and Barrington’s. Two of our faves! We also really like that restaurant in the mint museum with all the real trees as tabletops. Totally blanking on the name!

And the rolls at the place in the Ritz are To DIE FOR!

If I had added one more, it would have been lulu’s! Are you thinking of Halcyon? We like to go there for drinks. I love their specialty cocktail list with local booze and flavors!
