Five Things Every Blogger Should Do
I just finished up a FABULOUS course by esteemed blogger Melissa Culbertson of MomComm. Her seven-day course, Content Brew, will have any blogger coming up with fabulous content, learning how to plan and schedule this content, and finally how to promote yourself, your fellow-bloggy friends, and gain accountability in your field of expertise.
Here are five things that make me feel all warm and savvy inside, and I couldn’t help but share them with you.
- Mind-mapping is the best way to come up with content. Why had I not thought of this before? In the content brew course, Melissa shares how she tackles this process with a list of probing questions to encourage your lines of thought.
- A content calendar is a must. Duh. I was just going week to week, without arranging my ideas based on topic. Sorry if I’ve been boring y’all with all of my cooking posts recently. I’ll be mixing it up more frequently from now on! As a participant in the Content Brew course I was given a template that makes scheduling content so easy!
- Evernote is AMAZING. Learning about this tool is worth the course in and of itself. Melissa shares some great ways to use this app as a blogger.
- Use lists and check them often. From RSS feeds on Google Reader to Facebook and Twitter, the Content Brew course has given me some simple steps and tools to maintain contact with the resources that I deem valuable.
- Buffer. Buffer. Buffer. Genius. Really, genius.
And this is just the tip of the iceberg. Wanna learn how to use these tools in-depth from Melissa, who I will now refer to as My Blogger in Shining Armour…???
Her next course registration goes live TONIGHT! At 9pm! Sign up here! Spots go quickly, so be sure not to dilly dally! 🙂

[…] First off, I wanted to share that Content Brew is open for registrations. This is the best course if you have a blog and (1) are needing to get it organized (2) are looking for content ideas and (3) are looking for tips on increasing your audience. I took this course early this year, and learned so many great tips. The course runs February 4-13 and is completely online. You do the coursework on your own schedule and then participate in a few scheduled chats as you are able. If you want to learn more about it before you sign up, here’s the recap I wrote after taking the course myself. […]
