When I rock my 4 month-old to sleep at night I always think about you, the reader….well, mostly I think about lying in a hammock beachside with a drink in my hand BUT I often I think about important aspects of fitness. Naturally, I think about what I like to use in my everyday life. I have many cool pieces of affordable equipment and apparel I love but I”ve decided to list the five things I can”t live without. Ready? Here goes:
1. SHOES!!
Listen up, if you”re wearing running shoes from last year it”s time for a new pair. My suggestions are basic. If you run–buy a running shoe. I sport Saucony running shoes that I was fitted for at TrySports. It”s imperative you have someone help you with the proper fit for your foot and the amount of mileage you intend to run each week. The initial investment is a little steep, costing $130 roughly. Don”t sell yourself short, invest in the brands that are synonymous to running. Helpful hint: once you have the shoe you love, google the style number and purchase online. You”ll save a bundle, but I highly recommend a running shoe store for the first purchase.
Also, if you cross train, I recommend the Nike Free. Geoff (husband and bad-ass trainer) and I have been wearing these bad boys since their infancy. We love them! Go to www.nike.com for more info.
2. TRX STRAPS
Hands down one of the best pieces of equipment for your house, a tree, the flag pole, or any object stuck in the ground is the TRX. We”ve had the straps in our home and the gym for years and we still find new ways to challenge our bodies. Again, the price is a little steep but I swear you”ll thank me and it will last years! Go to www.trxtraining.com for more information.
3. Resistance Casino Tropez is a leading online casino and it offers a rewarding VIP program called Club Tropez. bands and resistance straps
Ladies- don”t delay! Get yourself on the band bus and bust out some bicep curls! Summer online casinos is around the corner and we need our arms as toned This being the case, it’s important to realize how much variance there is in online mobile roulette and not get flustered when things aren’t going well. as possible. The best part about bands and straps is the cost. You”re looking between $8-$20 dollars. Plus, they fit easily into your luggage when you hit the beach this summer. 20 minutes with the straps and you”re set. Go to www.performbetter.com for the best and most affordable straps and bands.
4. Workout pants and shorts
I know what your saying, workout pants? What? YES! The workout pant is critical. You must invest in a good pair. Trust me, I”ve bought them all: from Target to Nike and lulu lemon and back again. Hands down, the best pant in my book is the Nike series. Nike has done a great job at widening the waistband and creating crazy color combos. Look for the pro hyperwarm pant( great for winter months), the Legend series and the Element series, too. Of course, I stick with black, blue and gray but I admire the ladies who sport the funky fun colors! Helpful hint: Nordstrom has a great selection of Nike. If you want the whole enchilada go to www.Nike.com for every pant under the sun.
5. Kettlebell
Yes, the kb looks and sounds barbaric and to some extent it is. Don”t be fooled by this metal lump, it packs a mean punch. You”ll need to visit a gym for instruction if you”re a beginner. Perhaps H&G Personal Training can help! If you”ve had experience go ahead and youtube some videos for ideas. My suggestion is to buy at least a 15-20 lb kettlebell . Don”t be alarmed if the weight is in kilograms. Just multiply the kg x 2.2 and voila you have the pounds.
Go to www.muscledriverusa.com for the best kettlebells on the market.
That”s it folks. Some of you may have the essentials and some of you may not, but its fair to say that if you have these pieces you are on the right track! If you need any help, let me know. Get out there and move that body!
Until next time,
Holly
