Hi All – Just a quick note about weekend plans…. It’s looking like raining… more! Can you believe it? If you’re looking for something fun to do, thought I’d throw in my two cents: Check out Cirque Du Soleil, Quidam at Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte. There are two performances today and two tomorrow.
I had the pleasure of going on opening night, and I gotta say – WOW. It’s is truly amazing what the human body can do. From dangling on a rope high above our heads, to performing the most thrilling body manipulations, it was unreal. Having never been to a Cirque du Soleil, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The acrobatics were truly hands down fantastic. Mixed into the gymnastic eye-candy was a mix of ballet, theater, variety show and comedy.
It was definitely unusual, truly unique, and a lot of fun. I did take my oldest son; he’s 5. And, although he wasn’t quite sure what was going on, he exclaimed, “This is awesome. And loud. Are those baby whales?” That was during a period of dance that I thought represented death. Or birth. Or a dream-state. Or perhaps baby whales.
So, although I can’t quite explain the plot of the whole thing, it was captivating and I’m so glad I went.

Quidam had its world premiere in Montreal under the Big Top in April 1996. Since then, the production has toured on five continents and been experienced by millions of people. Seeking to fill the void of her existence, she slides into an imaginary world—the world of Quidam—where she meets characters who encourage her to free her soul.
