Meyer Lemon Vodka Fizz: Winter Seasonal Cocktail

Our Meyer Lemon Vodka Fizz is the perfect way to toast to the end of winter!  Sweet and floral, with the perfect amount of “bite” you may just want the cold weather to hang on just a tad longer so you can warm up from the inside out with this cocktail.

I was walking back from taking my kids to the bus the other morning, and thought… BRRRRRR.  I cannot freaking wait for spring to show it’s face.  It’s a comin’, and man, I’m ready.  But like I tell my kids, I said, “Self.  Appreciate the now, because tomorrow will be here faster than you think.”

And myself thought… a seasonal cocktail is just about the perfect way to appreciate the now.  We’ll be making strawberry and cantaloupe margaritas soon enough.

But while it’s still bracingly cold outside, may as well enjoy meyer lemons – a sweeter and more floral version of the traditional lemon.  And unlike seemingly everything else in the grocery store, it’s still mostly only available in late winter.

Pairing it with rosemary brings out the floral notes of the fruit, and this recipe would be absolutely delightful with gin.  But, being the contrarian that I am, I chose to pair it with vodka.  Because I had a handle of it. 🙂

Combine water, sugar, lemon zest and rosemary in a saucepan and bring to a simmer.  Stir until the sugar dissolves, then remove from the heat.

Can’t find meyer lemons?  You can totally use regular lemons in this recipe.  Also try our Blood Orange Campari Cocktail (one of my absolute favorite drinks!!), and if you love grapefruit, try this recipe for a Grapefruit Shandy.
