Italian Style Preserved Tuna Recipe with Herbs & Beans

One thing you’ll notice if you get the chance to visit any European ports.  Preserved fish is on every menu.  In Italy, it was tuna.  Big chunks of tuna dripping in fragrant olive oil.  With just a touch of sea salt.  Even those that think they don’t like tuna might be converted with this dish.  That’s the inspiration behind today’s Italian Style Preserved Tuna Recipe with Herbs & Beans.

Italian Style Preserved Tuna Recipe with Herbs & Beans

Italian Style Preserved Tuna Recipe with Herbs & Beans

Prepare the ingredients.  Mince garlic, roughly chop parsley, zest the lemon, and chop the marinated peppers.

Italian Style Preserved Tuna Recipe with Herbs & Beans

To a medium sized bowl, add the tuna, breaking it up just slightly with a fork.  Gently stir in the garlic, parsley, zest, peppers, and beans.  Season with salt and pepper and add another generous drizzle of olive oil.

Serve on top of arugala with crusty fresh bread.

Yield: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 cans Bella Portofino Tuna (not drained)
  • 2-3 marinated red bell peppers
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 small bunch fresh parsley
  • 1 lemon
  • 1/2 cup cannellini beans, drained
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the ingredients.  Mince garlic, roughly chop parsley, zest the lemon, and chop the marinated peppers.
