What Trending at the Harding House, 1/12 v.2

In case you didn’t know – I now use Twitter. It can be time-consuming if you let it, but I hate to admit it… it’s also kind of fun! If you’re a working mom, it’s a great way to connect with others in your industry. If you’re a curious mom, it’s a great way to see what’s going on in other friends’ and family members’ lives. If you’re a celeb-crazed mom, you can keep up tabs with anybody you desire. See, it’s multi-faceted! Check it out, and in case you want to know what I’m up to, look me up at: @cltmomfaves!

I know it’s only January, but if you aspire to do a garden this year now is the time to do your garden planning! Spring plants go in as soon as there is no threat of a deep frost. According to the temperature outside right now, I’d say that’s right about now. Broccoli, cauliflower, brussels sprouts, carrots and most root veggies, onions, cilantro, strawberries, peas can all be acquired (transplants and/or seeds) and likely planted quite soon! And, if you are in to specialty seeds/transplants for summertime, you best order them now if you want to get them in time for summer planting season (April 15th).

For those of you with iPhones, this is most-likely old news. I, however, am a new iPhone user and therefore have just recently discovered Instagram. I now feel like a skilled personal photographer as I click away, add fancy filters to the graphic and then can easily share them with friends, family, and fellow tweeters. Other programs like http://instaport.me and http://instagre.at make it easy to download pics to your computer and view them on the computer.

In our family we have a new motto: Eat your veggies. And, pretty much only veggies. We’re not hard core vegetarians, but we certainly are gravitating that way. I’ve come across quite a few great vegetarian recipes and thought I would share. You won’t miss the meat in these dishes.

  • Indian Lentil Cakes with Raita
  • Wild Rice and Mushroom Soup (served with Jalapeno Cornbread)
  • Potato, Turnip and Spinach Baeckoffe
  • Garlic and Kale Polenta with Poached Egg and Parmesan
