Time on Your Hands? I Can Help.

How many afternoons slip by and I think, “Self… what did you do all afternoon?”  Oh, pinterest.  That’s right.  And that pesky Etsy browsing.  Oh, and that trilogy I got hooked on.  Yep, I know about time killers.  And if you’ve got time to kill, here are a few things I suggest.

Inspired by this Pin.
Get hooked on Pinterest.  Yep, it’s a time sucker.  But, it’s my favorite one!  It’s inspired recipes, craft projects (which is amazing that I’d even mention crafting), organization and wardrobe pics.  I’ve gotten great blogging tips and home decor suggestions.  I’m hooked.  When I get done scrolling down through recent updates, I explore other categories of interest.  It’s an amazing resource, and I can easily kill 2 hours a day on it.  Fortunately, I get paid to be on Pinterest (at least some of the time), so that’s helpful.  If you don’t, well, hopefully the benefits out-weight the time spent!

Browse Etsy.  Been hankering for a fall scarf?  Want a personalized smocked outfit for your baby’s first Halloween?  How ’bout cute printables for an upcoming birthday bash?  Whatever you need, I can guarantee you can find it on Etsy, and you’ll feel good browsing and buying knowing that your supporting the little guy.

Fall in love with a trilogy.  Ok, it’s time I ‘fess up.  Yes, I read the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy.  What’d I think?  Mixed bag of tricks.  Interesting, intriguing, dirty, and cheesy.  But, I read it, so make of it what you want.  I also loved the Hunger Games series.  If you haven’t jumped on that bandwagon by now, get on it!  That was a great series.  Now, I’m in the second book of the Matched trilogy by Ally Condie.  Not great, but easy reading and kinda Hunger Games-like which is what I was in the mood for.
Get ahead on cooking.  This is probably the only actual helpful thing I’m about to suggest. Got an hour to kill?  Hit the kitchen.  I like to freeze PB&J sandwiches for the kid’s lunches, I pre-cook rice and freeze it for later use, chop veggies for the week, make a big ‘ol batch of marinara or pesto sauce, make a double-batch of a casserole and freeze it for later (like this Baked Rigatoni with Spinach recipe), or make a triple batch of these granola balls.  Yep, it’s productive, but I put on my fave Pandora station and dance, chop and stir!
