Flywheel – Making A Fit Family Possible, a guest blog by Lindsey J.

Steve and I attended Wake Forest University on athletic scholarships. Steve played football and I played soccer. Steve first spotted me running sprints on the field hockey turf and pursued me in our weekly FCA meetings and freshman seminar class. I reluctantly agreed to join him in his ’93 Oldsmobile Silhouette minivan to an FCA retreat. After the trip, he had me, despite the horrible car! While we could not be more opposite in disposition or personality, we share a strong common interest in sports and fitness.

Steve was drafted by the Indianapolis Colts after his senior season, and I attended UNC-Chapel Hill for grad school. We got engaged during that time and married right after I graduated. When I moved to Indy, I sought a career that would allow me to be with Steve as much as possible during all of his training and travels. One thing led to another, and before I knew it I was running a personal training business at a local fitness studio. Steve and I found that the combination of my degrees in Exercise Physiology, his experience as a professional athlete, and our combined love for helping people made us a pretty good team of trainers.

In January of 2010, Steve was picked up by the Carolina Panthers. Per the demands of being an NFL family, we immediately put our house on the market and set sail to our beloved North Carolina. When we arrived, I was 8-months pregnant with Hannah, our first child. As was our custom, we were in the gym the same day we arrived to the Q City. God had a great plan in store for us when I left the gym that day with the opportunity to keep our training business alive!

For the past two years, Justice Fitness LLC has been blessed to train people of all shapes and sizes throughout this wonderful community. Steve retired from football in the Spring of 2010 after sustaining his second serious back injury. We have thoroughly enjoyed the career that has allowed us to pursue our passion while maintaining a healthy work-life balance with Hannah.

Our latest business venture brought us to Flywheel, an all-spinning studio that also houses Flybarre, a barre-pilates studio. Flywheel is not a franchise, it is privately owned and after two successful years in Manhattan and the Hamptons, has decided to share the passion with other markets!

To make a long story short, our neighbors put us in contact with one of the Flywheel owners. After a few slow months of emails, we found ourselves in New York City, training to be full-time instructors at the newest Flywheel studio, planning to open in March of 2012 at the corner of Sharon Amity and Providence. During that trip, the owners of Fly also asked us to be their North Carolina regional managers. We were honored and humbly accepted the position!

The past month has been a whirlwind. We have never worked so hard in our lives, but we have also never had so much fun! We truly believe in all that Flywheel has to offer, and we know that anyone who walks in our doors will feel the same. We can’t really explain the experience unless you come visit, so please come on in! Your first ride is on us, just mention Charlotte Mom Favorites! Please check us out at flywheelsports.com. If you want to get in the bast shape of your life and have fun doing it, we are the right place for you!

We are expecting our second baby girl at the end of May – about the same time we will open our second studio in Blakeney! In our short 3 years of marriage, we have experienced much change and hardship. But, we would not change a thing!
