“I’m gonna go on a bike ride tomorrow afternoon,” my husband says to me last week.
“That’s fine. But I have a work appointment at 3:00, so you need to be home by 2:30 so I won’t be late,” I retort.
“What client are you meeting with on a Saturday afternoon?” Jonnie asks. Bummer. I was hoping that question wouldn’t come up.
“Uh, I’ve got a meeting in Ballantyne.”
“What for,” he asks.
I guiltily respond, “I’ve got meetings at La Vida Massage.”
“That’s not work!” he replies with the exact response that I had expected.
“Is too. I’m reviewing a massage and facial at La Vida Massage in the Promenade for my loyal blog readers. I’ve gotta make sure I know what I’m talking about so my readers can get some much needed pampering.”
Yeah…. that’s a conversation I didn’t want to have. Sorry, hubs, no weekend bike ride. The wifey has to go get a massage and facial. And, we’re gonna call it “work.” Life is R-O-U-G-H for this working lady. 🙂
My “work” at La Vida massage started with a one hour facial. I’m new to facials, but have quickly become a fan. It’s part pleasant, part uncomfortable, but at the end, your skin feels like a baby’s bottom. And baby’s bottoms are something I know pretty well. Have you ever had your face massaged? It feels pretty darn good. So, there’s some massaging, some facial scrubs, a lot of steam, some zit popping (ouch!), and a mask. Plus, a nice foot rub. Yeah, I’d do it again. Anytime. My husband even noticed how much smoother my face felt afterwards. And that man does not notice much.
The hard day at work continued when I went into my massage. I was asked how much pressure I preferred, what my problem areas were, and my masseuse went to work. She concluded the massage with one hell of a scalp massage. Holy crow, I would go back just for one hour of that. Skip the rest. Just mess with my hair a bit. One piece of advice, if you want more pressure or it’s too much during the massage… Speak up! They aren’t mind readers, so make sure you get what you want, but informing them of your comfort level throughout the massage.
And in true Mom Favorites form, we’re giving away one of each: A one-hour massage and a one-hour facial! We’ll be selecting two winners… one for each treatment. So, Charlotte readers… be sure to enter by January 25th for your chance to get pampered at La Vida Massage at the Promenade on Providence in Ballantyne.
I love a good massage! And what an awesome Saturday!!
I’ve never had a massage or facial. The best I get is a shoulder rub from my husband.
i have not spoiled myself in over 3 years so this would be a nice treat
Need to make more time for pampering in 2013! Last facial was in October!
